This service includes:
Industry leading level of peaceful end of life services and quality, compassionate care! With a more personal touch and at a more affordable price!
Initial phone or email consultation with the doctor (if needed). On the scheduling (booking) form please specify the reason for your pet's poor quality of life and for electing humane euthanasia. If we have questions or you request direct contact to discuss your pet's quality of life, then the doctor will reach out or respond, usually within 48 hours. Contact via text usually allows for a more rapid response.
The doctor's travel from their home base. Additional drive time fees are applied for drive times greater than 45 minutes for Dr. Taro. And greater than 30 minutes for Dr. Krissy. This difference is due to Dr. Taro's much wider service area.
An on site visual exam of your pet, and further discussion (as needed) about your pet's quality of life.
Initial heavy sedation/anesthesia/pain relief. Through an under the skin or into the muscle injection. This allows for your pet to be pain free and sleeping peacefully when the final injection is administered intravenously.
A complimentary clay paw print and keepsake hair clipping. Also assistance can be provided for doing nose and/or ink paw prints if the family has the necessary supplies.
A gentle, pain-free, and fear-free euthanasia procedure (end of life, peaceful passing). Through a painless intravenous injection.
Compassionate care and empathetic support for your pet and your family throughout the visit.
Humane and careful/respectful handling and transport of your pet's body. The "transport" does not apply when the family has their own arrangements for aftercare. THERE ARE ADDITIONAL FEES FOR CREMATION - LISTED BELOW.
Dr. Taro's local area: All locations within a 45 minute drive time from his North Auburn home base.

For cremation services, we use West Coast Pet Memorial Services. A very reputable, pet only, Natomas area aftercare services company. Dr. Taro has a 3 year business relationship with West Coast, has toured their facilities, and has full trust in their aftercare services. This is a true private cremation, where each pet is cremated individually, and with no possible mixing of pet's ashes. West Coast Pet Memorial will always handle your pet with Care, Dignity, and Respect.
Our private cremation pricing includes a very nice rosewood urn with a carved flower pattern on the top and your pet's name laser engraved on the side.
The price also includes secure, and very careful delivery of the urn via USPS Priority Mail. Which requires having someone over 18 on the premises to sign for the package upon delivery. We understand that some families prefer to not have their beloved pet's urn shipped. Therefore the alternative option is for us to have West Coast Pet Memorial notify you when your pet's urn is ready. You can then pick up directly from their Natomas facility. Electing this option does not decrease the private cremation price.
To avoid injuries during pet body transport, we are unable to transport dogs weighing more than 100 lbs. For this reason, we will arrange for a West Coast Pet Memorial van and 2 helpers to arrive at your home during the euthanasia appointment. And they will wait in their van until the doctor escorts them into your home. And only when you are ready. The West Coast helpers will then transport your pet's body directly to West Coast Pet Memorial in Natomas. The doctor remains on the premises to help with this process. The West Coast Pet Memorial van driver and helper will always handle your pet with Care, Dignity, and Respect.
If you need to minimize costs, you can avoid this extra fee by either 1) Driving your pet's body to West Coast Pet Memorial yourself. After we have made arrangements for this. And please ask us if you need help getting your pet ready for transport. OR 2) Making your own arrangements for aftercare. This includes other pet crematory companies that work directly with pet owners.
To arrange for the Van Transport Service, West Coast needs a minimum of several days notice. And your in home euthanasia appointment will not be confirmed until the availability of the West Coast Van for that day and time is confirmed. For same day or next day extra large dog appointments we suggest making your own arrangement for aftercare.
Please refer to your municipal code for details. As this is illegal in some cities and counties. If you elect this aftercare option, please ask Dr. Taro if you need help getting your pet ready for burial.

Together, we can give vulnerable animals the second chance—and the safe haven—they deserve.
EverAfter's Essence of Life Process™ does this by imaging the microscopic crystals in your pet's ashes. This brings out the naturally occurring abstract patterns, shapes, and often vivid colors from your pet's unique ash crystals. Resulting in a truly one of kind art piece. And only a small amount of ashes needs to be submitted. Click the following link for more information: https://everafterart.com/products/ever-after-digital-artwork
