Providing a peaceful and loving in-home pet passing, while focusing on compassion, comfort, empathetic family support, and high quality care.
Meet The Doctors
Dr. Taro Cuetara is a 1997 UC Davis Veterinary Medicine graduate. After school, he and his family lived in Davis, and he worked for 25 years doing both general practice and emergency medicine. Initially at Woodland Veterinary Hospital, then at Mueller Pet Medical Center in Sacramento.
Over the last 3 years, Dr Taro left clinical practice and switched to doing fulltime in home euthanasia with a national company (Lap of Love). In that time, he helped to give over 1,300 dogs, cats, rabbits, and birds a peaceful passing. Surrounded by family, and in the comfort of their home. This badly needed career change restored Dr. Taro's love of veterinary medicine. And gave him the most touching and rewarding years of his veterinary career.
During Dr. Taro's almost 3 years with Lap of Love, he further developed his high level of compassion and empathy. He also continued to improve his high level of care given, and careful attention to every detail, while providing the most compassionate and empathetic care possible. And now, through Paws at Peace, he continues to offer the same industry leading level of peaceful end of life services, with a much more personal touch! Such as Dr. Taro reaching out to every family before their appointment request is confirmed. To address any remaining QOL assessment questions or peaceful pet passing procedure questions or concerns. And the families choosing Paws at Peace receive this industry leading level of quality, compassionate care at a much more affordable price!
Due to a love of surgery and an ongoing desire to help dogs and cats, Dr. Taro also works doing high volume spay/neuter surgery in both Sacramento and Placer Counties. In his spare time, he enjoys camping (mostly glamping), fishing, traveling, riding quads, and spending time at his Auburn ranch with family and pets (5 cats, 3 dogs, 2 parrots, numerous koi fish, 2 llamas, 2 pot belly pigs, 5 pygmy goats, and a partridge in a pear tree). And he helps his wife, Julie, manage their CuetaraCare Animal Rescue and Sanctuary (specializing in tortoises and turtles). Dr. Taro has also been a rabid 49ers fan for over 40 years. Go Niners!
